The Honba Amami Oshima Tsumugi NEXT Project has been working with kimono designer Taro Ueoka (ROBE JAPONICA) to launch our new brand “age!!,” aiming to create modern designs of Oshima Tsumugi for the next generation and the global street fashion industry.
Together, we produced innovative works such as “Haku Oshima” and “Ichigo,” and were in the midst of developing a new “Mosaic Pattern” design.
However, at 10:00 a.m. on August 6, 2025, Mr. Taro Ueoka passed away. His sudden departure has brought us great sorrow and shock.
His unique creativity and passion shed a bright light on our craftsmanship. We extend our heartfelt prayers for his peaceful rest and our deepest gratitude for his invaluable contributions and the bond we shared.
The “Mosaic Pattern” currently in production will be completed in his honor, with all members of the project united in carrying forward his vision.
